Renewal

The first meeting on 13th July 2009 for the new term of 2009/2010 under President Rosslin Peter Rosen was themed RENEWAL. We renewed our promises, our commitments and our pledges to improve ourselves in communication and leadership skills.

The meeting started off with dinner, nasi lemak. Invocator Datin Betty Hiew then shared her thoughts of the evening.

President Rosslin later addressed the members. She thanked members for their support and confidence in her in leading the club. She hoped that everybody would renew their commitment to the club as well as to themselves.

President Rosslin also announced some coming activities which are:
1. Tawau Mandarin Toastmasters Club Installation on 18th July 2009,
2. Sandakan Toastmasters Club Installation also on 18th July 2009
3. Our own Tawau Toastmasters Club Installation on 2nd August 2009
4. First Executive Committee Meeting on 15th July 2009

Elizabeth Goh's dream came true when she was able to be the first Toastmaster of The Evening (TME) for the new term.

The TME started off by inviting Datin Betty Hiew to coach the members on Poco Poco dance. It was in preparation for the coming Club installation which has chosen Poco Poco as the theme for the evening.

A very supportive member of the Club, Hew Kim Foong has contributed a collar microphone for the Club use. The microphone set was presented on her behalf by Vera Yap to President Rosslin. Thank you, Kim Foong.

Grace Yong took the role as Table Topics Master and managed to get almost everyone to speak on various topics.

Lynda Lee took the challenge to evaluate the Table Topics session for the first time. More to come!

The evening also saw the birthday celebration of Vice President Education Lynda Lee and Gorgonia Koh. Happy Birthday!

After singing the birthday song, everyone was all smiles for a photo session.

Newly installed Area K2 Governor, Eleanor Fabia Pang, made her first offical Club Visit and conducted the Club Officers Training (COT) as well. Club officers did not attend the recently concluded Division K TLI in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The one and only manual speech speaker Lee Chye Ewe, spoke on SMS.

Dear members,

I have certainly learnt a lot being the president. I also thank all of you who have helped the club to achieve the DCP goals or win awards. Please continue to inspire and be inspired. Also, please extend your support to the incoming president Rosslin Peter Rosen. I'm confident that under her leadership, the club will continue to perform well.

Father's Day

A group photo with a cake is the most frequently shot!

A cake for all the fathers

Symbolic handing over from President Roselind Gan to President Elect Rosslin Peter Rosen

Vice President Hj Yalah Munur has chosen the theme "Father's Day" for the meeting on 22nd June 2009. It turned out to be a very special meeting after all.

With Dr Joe Yap as Table Topics Master, he has everyone sharing about how father's day was celebrated. We have the previlege to find out more ways on how meaningful a Father's Day could be. We got to know all the fathers better, even the mothers as well. These were pointed out by the Table Topics Evaluator, Roselind Gan.

We had our dinner break after the Table Topics session. The food was exceptional special. We had the local specialty, nasi kuning. Not only we had double serving we also packed some back for our dear ones at home.

A cake was also prepared for all the fathers, including the venue caretaker, Edy Sim.

There were two speeches presented during the meeting. Lee Chye Ewe started his second Ice Breaker speech about himself. Lynda Lee was requested to be his evaluator, for the first time!.

Grace Yong made her 10th ACG speech and the clun finally produced the 4th Advance Communicator Gold. Grace spoke on "A for Attitude".

Eleanor Pang was General Evaluator.

This meeting was also the last meeting for Roselind Gan as the President. She took the oppornity to thank all her members for their support and co-operation. She has also specially thanked Lee Chye Ewe and Hj Yalah Munur for the help and guidance.
