| Roselind Gan receiving her certificate of Achievement |
I first met Gan Si Wah Roselind during a speech contest in a school many years ago. We were both judges.
We got to know each other and I invited her to join Tawau Toastmasters Club. She came for the first meeting and signed up as a member at the end of the meeting.
There was no turning back since! She went on with her speeches, took up leadership roles in club, took part in speech contests and won many times at different levels.
Almost immediately after she was nominated to be the club President which she has accepted, she called to tell me that she has to withdraw. I asked her why? She said she had an 'unexpected pregnancy"!
I told her not a problem at all as in a club we always work as a team. She agreed and went on to become the first ever President during pregnancy yet juggling well between work, home and Toastmaster! Haji Yalah Munur and I took turns to relieve her duties when she was on confinement leave.
She left the club for further studies and when she was transferred back to her hometown in Malacca. She joined the club again when she came back to serve in Tawau until now.
When I approached her to speak on World Speech Day last year, she was away for holidays. However she and Looi Kok Mun helped me to get students from their school to participate.
This year, Gan Si Wah Roselind is one of the speakers for World Speech Day Malaysia 2017.
Jokingly I told her I could not find a single photo I took during her speech where she was smiling. She spoke on "Fill It Up". So here is one with her smiling, from another camera!
Thank you, Gan Si Wah Roselind!
