Would you attend a function where there is no competition or prizes to be won, no lucky draw, no food and refreshment served, no star performances, but mere speeches?
If you are organizing an event, would you think of something to keep the audience till the end of your function, such as lucky draw, best dress award and so on?
I am actually organizing one such event, the World Speech Malaysia Day 2017! I have organized the same event last year and this year we already have more than 20 speakers eager to share their views on a better world!
What? More than 20 speakers? Yes, you read me correctly. There are more than 20 of them coming from different age groups, professions and geographical locations! Some will be driving in from Lahad Datu while at least one speaker is flying in from Kuala Lumpur!
Each speaker will speak for 5 minutes. They will make full use of the 5 minutes allocated to share, convince and inspire.
There will not be any lengthy introduction by the emcees or salutations by the speakers themselves. They go straight to the point!
The speakers will choose to speak either in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin.
So do I get paid for organizing this event? No! Do the speakers get paid? No! While I have spent a lot of time and effort organizing the event, the speakers have spend no less time crafting and rehearsing their speeches.
Then why am I organizing this event? Why these speakers are coming all the way from far and near with their own expenses to speak on World Speech Day Malaysia 2017?
On my part I am doing this to provide a platform for speakers to be on World stage. I am offering an opportunity for the public to come and get inspired, to get encouraged and together we do our part to make this world a better world!
To the speakers, they have the equal passion to make this world a better world. Normally, these speakers only speak at exclusive functions and sometimes we have to pay to listen to them. This time around, they are doing it for free, all for a better world!
So friends, with this group of inspiring people, selfless people and people having great passion to make this world a better place for all of us, will you join us on 15th March 2017? Will you support us?
